K9 BlueLite is a specially formulated multiple energy rehydration supplement for active dogs of all ages. It’s unique combination of electrolytes, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals speeds recovery after strenuous exercise promoting rehydration and maintaining adequate fluid balance.
The convenient K9 BlueLite powder can be mixed with water or sprinkled dry over the dog’s food. This product is available in both this 794 gram (1.75 lb) container or in convienent 10 gram packets.
Most dehydrated dogs like the taste of K-9 BlueLite in the drinking water and in field trials evaluating water intake, K-9 BlueLite actually stimulated water intake. In some house pets or dogs with selective taste and appetite, K-9 BlueLite should be added to the dog food, as any changes in water taste may delay water intake for a short duration.
Rehydration-Digestive Action
K-9 BlueLite contains a broad spectrum of buffered electrolytes that minimize potential irritating action on inflamed intestinal tracts. These buffered electrolytes make K-9 BlueLite ideal for oral administration in dogs with gastritis and diarrhea. K-9 BlueLite can be added to the drinking water at the recommended rate or used as an oral lavage in mature dogs or puppies suffering from dehydration.
K-9 BlueLite provides a tasty digestive acidifying action in combination with multiple sources of energy similar to oral rehydration formulas consumed by human marathon runners. This pleasant acidifying action and the readily absorbed energy ingredients help provide optimum digestive pH maximizing energy utilization and electrolyte absorption. This energizing-acidification action provides quick rehydration action in performance animals such as racing dogs and young puppies where prolonged dehydration and energy deficits may be a threat to normal health.
Directions for Use
1. Drinking Water Administration
Mix 1 heaping teaspoon to each 1 to 2 pints of drinking water depending upon severity of dehydration. Keep K-9 BlueLite in all of the drinking water consumed by the dog for 5 to 7 days or as long as signs of dehydration persist. Can be fed continuously as a vitamin-energy supplement in debilitated dogs.
2. Dog Food Applications
Mix K-9 BlueLite with the dog food or dissolve 1 heaping teaspoon of K-9 BlueLite in about one-fourth cup of water and pour over the dog food. Feed daily 1 heaping teaspoon per each 10-15 pounds of body weight depending on the condition of the dog.
Other Indications and Applications
Heat stress, travel, extensive work or exercise, and metabolic disturbances are common contributing factors to dehydration. Because dogs vary greatly in their size, age, and activity, K-9 BlueLite has been used under a wide variety of circumstances since its introduction. Some applications where K-9 BlueLite has proven to be of benefit are as follows:
1. Oral Lavage or Drench Mixture Procedure
Many veterinarians have found K-9 BlueLite to be the first fluid that dogs will keep or hold down following digestive upsets when K-9 BlueLite is administered as an oral drench or lavage. The K-9 BlueLite lavage solution is prepared by mixing 1 heaping teaspoon of K-9 BlueLite with 20 to 30 milliliters of cool water. Most dogs will readily accept this electrolyte suspension when administered through a plastic tube or syringe via the lipfold of the mouth.
2. Ice Cube Administration
Many dogs with gastritis are not capable of holding down fluids when administered in large amounts over a short period of time. In clinical observations where K-9 BlueLite was offered in ice cube form, a high percentage of dogs with digestive upsets consumed more fluids and electrolytes by licking cubes or slowly drinking the fluids from the melting ice cubes. To prepare ice cubes with K-9 BlueLite, mix one part K-9 BlueLite with three parts of water with sufficient water to fill the ice cube tray. Offer 4-12 cubes at a time depending upon the size of the dog.
3. Lactating Bitches and Nursing Pups
K-9 BlueLite helps stimulate water intake and reduces dehydration in both the lactating bitch and the nursing puppy. The benefits of the buffered electrolytes, multiple energy and tasty acidification are very evident and visible in most puppies suffering from diarrhea.
